Hoagie and Beer

11 Dec

I saw a recipe on The Food Network for a hoagie with sausage and peppers, cooked in beer and bbq sauce! I though I could do a version of this, but instead of a traditional sausage I used a healthy chicken sausage and a wonderful rich local beer from New Holland Brewery. The beer is named Cabin Fever which seemed appropriate because here in Michigan we are getting ready for a big blizzard tonight. This is a rich dark beer, with flavors of rye, raisin, and caramel. Perfectly paired with the flavor of the sweet onions and peppers. Enjoy the food photos!

Cooking the sausages

Cutting up lots of bright colored veggies

Taste testing the beer, yup, it's good!

Add 1 cup of beer to the veggies, along with tomato paste and bbq sauce

Toast an onion bun and add the veggies and sausage, serve with a beer.
